On this occasion, Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared his views on Twitter. “#TheKashmirFiles is a TSUNAMI at the #BO… FANTASTIC TRENDING, as footfalls, occupancy, numbers continue to soar… Day 5 is higher than *all* previous days… BLOCKBUSTER… Fri 3.55 Cr, Sat 8.50 Cr, Sun 15.10 Cr, Mon 15.05 Cr, Tue 18 Cr. Total: ₹60.20 Cr. #India biz,” he wrote.

Despite several legal challenges, the film was released on 11th March 2022 on 700 screens, and now, due to the positive response from the audience, this number has leveled up to 1000. Sure, this number might increase further because this movie is more than just a film story. It’s an emotional pain of hundreds of Kashmiri Pandits during the 1990s Pandits massacre. It’s a story to be told, an experience to be felt, and openness to also understand the other part of the judgment. The fact that this film’s director Vivek Agnihotri and his wife Pallavi Joshi have spent 4 years meeting and interviewing around 700’s first-generation genocide victims of the Kashmiri Pandits community has made the film a worthwhile movie.

This film has also received P.M Narendra Modi’s appreciation. The film’s director Vivek Agnihotri, his wife, and actress Pallavi Joshi, film’s producer Abhishek met PM Modi on March 12th; the second day of release, and appreciated the film. He spoke about the role of the film industry in representing history and congratulated the entire team.
