Bheemlanayak Review: Battle between a local Police and an egoistic mutineer
The Malayalam industry’s mass entertainer ‘Ayyappanum Koshiyum’ acted by two legendary actors Prithvi raj Sukumaran and Biju Menon was remade in Telugu replacing the characters with Rana and Pawan Kalyan respectively. It was released on 25th February 2022 and was produced by Suryadevara Naga Vamsi. Aided with Trivikram’s dialogues and screenplay, the film carries a risqué, rusty ego clash between Pawan and Rana with an action-packed mass entertaining story in the background.
The film does change a lot from its Malayalam original. Director Saagar K Chandra did full justice to the remake by adapting to the Pawan’s mannerisms, lungi-clad style, and powerful mass appearance. It opens with Rana (as Daniel Shekar) taking nap in his car while his journey to home through the forest region connecting Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. He doesn’t mind carrying liquor bottles in his car as he feels like a lion; the king of the forest.
However, the check post police officer question him arrogantly for his actions to which Rana replies with a powerful punch on his face. Soon an intense fight starts between Rana and the police for which Bhemla Nayak will later control to keep everything in check. Bhemla Nayak is a local sub inspector who is a demigod to all the tribals living over there. He also a mystic mass avatar with a backstory which the tribals take an oath to forget with time. While Daniel is an aspiring politician with wealth and powerful father. And Nitya Menon acted as the wife of Bhemla Nayak, carrying almost same intensity, aggression, and kindness effortlessly.

The first-half of story revolves around how the adrenaline-laden war gradually unfolds between Bhemla Nayak and Daniel. Spiced up with Trivikram’s power-packed mass dialogues exchanged between the two rivals, theatre’s have filled with audience whistle’s, high-pitched sounds. Pawan’s ease, humour, and mass delivery dialogues are at best to which Rana’s action is equally dominating. Additionally, music director Thaman added his rustic flavour music backdrop to Pawan’s and Rana’s action multiplied the impact of the film on the audience.
The story goes on with the clash, unfolding many scenes and incidents depicting how people take it hard to accept their ego and go with the flow of life. However, in the end, clash comes to a peaceful settlement leaving both Bhemla and Daniel out of the battle. Nonetheless, Bhemla did not give up easily in the fight even though he is local police before an Ex-M. P’s son Daniel and that itself is a win. Bhemla is one of the best characters of Pawan Kalyan. Rana’s character is unequivocally effective and challenging to Bhemla’s character.
