Russian Ukraine Conflict: Russia Launched a Military Operation Across Ukraine

Despite the international condemnations from the nations like the US, the UK, EU, Canada, and the United Nation, Putin announced a special military operation across eastern Ukraine. He said that this attack is justly a help offered from Russia on behalf of its friendship with the Donetsk people’s republic and Luhansk people’s republic. He clearly announced that this is against the abuse and genocide from the Kyiv regime towards separatists but not to invade Ukraine and there’s no harm being imposed on Ukrainian civilians. “Our plans are not to occupy Ukraine, we do not plan to impose ourselves on anyone,” he said. However, the US considers this statement as a pretext Russia made to justify its actions on Ukraine’s invasion.

So far, Russia attacked from the north, east, and southern parts of the country, including Belarus. Both Russian troops and Ukrainian troops heard the blasts from the capital city of Kyiv, followed by the second largest city of Ukraine Kharkiv, the city of Odesa, launching strikes on its military structure and border guard units.
Ukraine’s foreign minister Dmytro Kuleba described this attack as a “full-scale invasion” on Ukraine and said the country “will defend and win itself.” Meanwhile, the country’s president Volodymyr Zelensky enacted marital law all across Ukraine and several other nations have started preparing to take in a large number of refugees.

Russian actions were condemned by a lot of countries, fearing that this could be a start of a big war on the European continent. UN chief Antonio Guterres has requested Putin to stop the war ‘in the name of humanity, telling that otherwise, it could lead to devastating consequences to Ukraine and the world. The US, UK, and other countries have imposed high sanctions on Russia and US president Biden promised that he’ll make Russia hold accountable for its actions. However, Putin said, “Whoever tries to interfere with us, and even more so to create threats to our country, to our people, should know that Russia’s response will be immediate and will lead you to such consequences as you have never experienced in your history.”

Ukraine’s military troops have weakened and it requested the UN Security Council for an immediate meeting for support. And the European Commission chief said it will support Ukraine by imposing the hardest sanctions on Russia. European Commission chief Ursula Von der Leyen said the massive sanctions “will target the strategic sectors of Russian economy blocking their access to key technologies and markets.”
