Haunted Story of Woodchester Mansion

Woodchester Mansion is near Woodchester Park, Nympsfield, Gloucestershire. A well-known haunted mansion in England with a beautiful landscape. The house looks grand but it has a terrible history in past. Most of the ghost stories are associated with the Mansion, which earned the reputation as England’s most horrifying haunted building. Visitors are attacked by paranormal entities. A ghost of an old woman attacked many female visitors by grabbing them in the dark, and some claimed that a floating head had been seen in the bathroom.

History of Woodchester Mansion

Going back to history, the original owner of this Mansion was George Huntly. He brought it in 1564, and he planned to build a deer park for hunting. Later, he failed to do so because he was bankrupted and he sold the whole property to Sir Robert Ducie in 1603. Ducie Family constructed a grand country house called Spring Park. Later he decided to sell the property due to he can’t afford the budget. He sold to William Leigh. He demolished the original house and constructed the Woodchester Mansion as we know it today.

The Mansion was built by William Leigh in 1845. The Mansion looks in a gothic style design. Locals believe that the land on which the mansion was built is haunted for 200 years. The incident took place in the year 1840 when Earl of Ducie II arranged a dinner party to celebrate his succession to the Earldom. His father’s ghost crashed the party. Then the Ducie Family didn’t come back to stay in the Mansion.

Hauntings of Woodchester Mansion

Paranormal investigators sense the presence of spirits inside the Mansion, and they often hear 1940s music, and resonating sounds near the corridors. The Chapel is one of the most haunted spots inside the Mansion. Visitors reported the smell of candles in the room and a person with a white dress standing near the doors. Some reported that the same person was supposed to throw stones at the visitors and disappeared. The kitchen is another cold spot with at least three ghosts spotted. A female voice was heard singing and a ghost of a young woman looked like an Irish cook in the kitchen. A tall man is also spotted near the kitchen doorway to welcome the visitors and all of it sudden he disappears.
